GRAVE STOMPERS - Spooked, Cursed And Haunted CD

Psychobilly in the oldschool style and spooky lyrics is what you can expect from the forth album of the Grave Stompers. Beside the true Psycho tunes (such as "Wolfbane", "Dressed to kill", "Faster than hell" etc.) this CD also features some Rockabilly influenced songs ("She's a vamp) and even the slow motion surf track "Smell of love" (probably the bands slowest song ever). The vocals on each song may change between smooth, smart and more aggressive style while the bass and stand drums keep pounding a straight jackhammer beat. The band's sound is led by clean and twangy Gretsch Guitars with lots of reverb - on "London after Midnight" and the groovy "Bone Sweet Bone" (a tribute to the bloody countess Elisabeth Bathory) the guitar sound gets pimped with eerie fuzz to make the sinister atmosphere complete.
Not just the music of the Grave Stompers can be described as oldschool sounding, also the production of this album is really natural and authentic. Great care has been taken to carry out this vintage feeling - so the recording and mixing was just on analog basis and took place in the band's Funeral Lounge Soundcave.
The CD contains the clip "Munich after Midnight" as a bonus feature. This song is taken from the "Oldschool Deluxe 7" and got re-recorded for this album.

Auch auf ihrem vierten Longplayer fröhnen die Münchener Grave Stompers ihrer Vorliebe für klassischen Psychobilly und gruseliger Lyrik. Die Band präsentiert sich auf "Spooked, Cursed and Haunted" auffallend abwechslungsreich - so enthält das Album neben den Band-typischen Psycho Tracks ("Wolfbane", "Dressed to kill", Faster than hell" etc.) auch die eine oder andere Rockabilly lastige Nummer ("She's a Vamp") und mit "Smell of Love" gelang den Jungs ihr wohl bis dato langsamster Song im atmosphärischen Surf Style! Die einzelnen Songs variieren stimmlich zwischen klarem, sonorem und rauhem Gesang, während Bass und Schlagzeug (Stand Drums) stets straight und tight den Beat halten. Die Grave Stompers bevorzugen auch auf dieser Scheibe den cleanen, twangigen Gretsch Gitarren Sound, wie bereits auf dem vorigen Album - lediglich bei "London after Midnight" und dem groovigen "Bone Sweet Bone" (ein Tribut an die Gräfin Elisabeth Bathory) wird wieder etwas mehr Verzerrung ins Spiel gebracht, um die düstere Atmosphäre der Songs zu unterstreichen.
Die Band begibt sich nicht nur musikalisch auf das Oldschool Terrain, sondern auch bei der Produktion gab man sich große Mühe, "echt" und "vintage" zu klingen - demnach wurde das Album komplett analog aufgenommen und abgemischt. Als Bonus feature enthält die CD den Videoclip zu "Munich after Midnight" - dieser Song wurde der "Oldschool Deluxe 7" entnommen und in veränderter Version auf das Album gepackt.
